Cademuir Engineering Celebrates 45 Years of Innovation & Excellence in Plastic Engineering

News

Cademuir Engineering is proud to mark 45 years of delivering innovative engineering solutions to clients worldwide. Founded in 1979, the Company has grown from humble beginnings into a trusted leader in precision plastic injection moulding and providing cutting-edge design, manufacturing, and consultancy services.

Since 2022, Cademuir Engineering has invested over £4 million in new equipment and facilities to fuel its ongoing growth and expansion. A key milestone in this journey was the completion of a state-of-the-art, 26,000 sq. ft. factory in 2023, located on a 2.5-acre site at Tweedbank Business Park in the Scottish Borders. The purpose-built facility and new machinery has significantly strengthened the company’s ability to support clients and take on larger, more complex projects.

Managing Director, Brian Walker, reflects on this milestone:

Reaching our 45th anniversary is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team, as well as the trust our clients have placed in us over the years. The new factory represents more than just an expansion – it’s a symbol of our ambition and our commitment to continuous growth. As we look ahead, we’re focused on staying true to our customer-centric values while pushing the boundaries of innovation.”

General Manager, Julie Robinson, highlighted the impact of the company’s recent investments:

“The new facility has significantly enhanced our manufacturing capabilities, with modern workflows and sustainable design features that reflect our long-term commitment to environmental responsibility. It’s not just about increasing capacity, it’s about strengthening our ability to serve clients globally while also investing in our local community, creating new job opportunities, and fostering innovation right here in the Scottish Borders.”

Cademuir’s success over the past four and a half decades is built on the dedication and expertise of its team. The company prides itself on retaining and developing talent, with many employees forging long-term careers within the business. One such example is Ryan Trimby, Engineering Support Lead, who first joined Cademuir in 1997. After moving to Australia in 2012, Ryan returned to the Scottish Borders and rejoined Cademuir in 2023. Reflecting on the company’s growth and recent investment, he shares:

Coming back after 11 years away, I was blown away by how much Cademuir has grown. The new factory is impressive, with an incredible lineup of Arburg injection moulding machines, many of which are equipped with robotic arms capable of running 24/7. The toolroom has expanded with new CNC machinery, boosting our machining capacity, and the factory floor now houses several complex component assembly lines, further diversifying the business.”

As Cademuir Engineering celebrates 45 years, the Company remains committed to its founding principles – delivering tailored engineering solutions, investing in the latest technology, and building lasting client relationships.
